As of January 26, all passengers on international flights bound for the United States, including those who have received the COVID-19 vaccine, will be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or rapid antigen) or written documentation of recovery following a COVID-19 infection prior to boarding.
This follows similar regulations issued by the Canadian government requiring a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or LAMP) for all inbound international passengers as of January 7, 2021.
Tests for entry into both countries must be conducted no more than 72 hours prior to departure. Travelers who test positive for COVID-19 but exhibit no major symptoms will be required to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine which can be completed in their hotel on a designated floor (if available) or room.

Puerto Vallarta Medical Staff are well trained and professional in all aspects of Health Care.
Emergency numbers can vary between states here in Mexico, so you’ll need to do a little research depending on where you’re going.
Mexico recently adopted a national “911”, but many of those calls go to the police or fire department. If you are in need of an ambulance to bring you to the hospital, the fastest way to get one is to call a private ambulance service. You need to tell the ambulance service which hospital you wish to be brought to (this should be part of the research you do prior to arriving).
Also, when you arrive at the hospital, they will ensure you are stable and will immediately process payment, even if you have insurance. At the very least, you need:
- Credit card with $3,000 USD available
- Cell phone and charger
- Passport and visa
- Your general practitioner contact info
- Family contact info
Part of the fun or visiting Puerto Vallarta is making a “Margarita March” – kind of like a “Pub Crawl” but much more fun.
Everyone has their opinion on what Bar or Restaurant has the best Margaritas in town. Here are a few suggestions on where to start your research…
Bar La Playa
Bar La Playa is one of the smallest but coolest bars in Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta. Alex the owner is often there doing what he does best – making new friends and introducing them to the many specialty cocktails prepared by his mixology team led by the always jovial Paola.
Of course, the Bar La Playa’s Margaritas are among the best in town using the a wide range of Tequila’s and fruits and herbs for the non-traditional Tequila experience.
For those on a budget the bar offers 35 peso delicious cocktails during Happy Hour.
